Okay, yeah, if you read the “About” page, you’re right to think this blog could be biting off more than it can chew. But hey, one bite at a time. Apart from all of the usual get-a-blog-started technical crap that needs to be done, I want to clarify the mission a little.
First, some things this blog is not. This blog is not about me. I’ve got another neglected blog for that. Also, this isn’t an objectivist (“Objectivist”?) blog, which isn’t to say that a lot of what you see here isn’t informed by objectivism. More on that later. Like a few posts or so later.
I’m hoping this blog will reach those who feel like the current direction of society will make ever increasing demands on their time while giving them less and less in return, restricting their freedoms with every real or imagined crisis. They need to know they’re not alone.
Once they find each other, my audacious wish is that we can work together to reverse these trends, and to make a better society. This will take bravery and intelligence, and probably some math and economic theory. Again, details to follow.
Lastly, I want to emphasize that despite the timing, this effort is not in response to the Democratic victories in the US 2008 elections. This is not an anti-Democrat project. Rather, I was roused to action by the October bailout votes.
Enough introduction. There’s a lot to do, but also a fair amount of time to in which to do it. Still, no time like the present. If you’ve stumbled upon this blog with only this post on it (how did you wind up here exactly?), please drop by again in a few days. Hope to see you then, then.
