1,000 unique visitors today (as of 11:05 AM). Surprising doesn’t begin to cover it. I hope some of you have found something you like, and I wish I had some more goal-oriented content for you. There’s a bunch of us (and our numbers are growing) who don’t think the world can continue on the way it is without some pretty disastrous consequences, but know that changing course is a tough endeavor. Just “trying anything” is costly in itself, so I’m committed to finding a real solution. Unfortunately, I realize being deliberate about finding a solution can look a lot like dithering; what can I say — I’m honestly not sure what I can offer, but I’ll be damned if I’m not trying. Look around, judge for yourself, and if you find another place you think can get the job done better (or if you think you can), then tremendous! Be sure to let me know.

Congrats on the Colbert mention (it brought me here).
Of course, I find the whole “going galt” thing absurd, because:
1. No one is as critical as they think they are (IOW–if all these “productive” members of society went AWOL, I don’t think we’d notice it all that much)
2. The “productive” members of our society, in large part, got us into this mess (think CDS, derivatives, toxic loans)
3. It’s funny that people didn’t get up in arms until Obama was elected and starting trying to bail out regular folks.

What’s funny about Ayn Rand is how she took propaganda from the Russian revolution, civil war and 1930s collectivization and substituted the ‘productive’ for the ‘worker’. It’s a classic Neo-Formalist defamiliarization.

John I’m a new poster here. I was also brought here by the “Colbert bump”. Unlike many of the others however I actually like the ideas. Anonymous, the juggalos, the discordian society, and the subgenii are all counterculture movements whose movers and shakers genuinely support freedom. Stephen Colbert did make fun of you, that’s what he does. But none of these guys stopped to wonder why he would pick on you. I genuinely think that Colbert respects what you’re doing and chose to give you some free advertising. Never mind the cancer and don’t let them weigh you down.
