Most Peculiar, Mama

What an odd 24 hours. For what it’s worth, the site had over 4,000 visitors today, and over half of them were using Firefox. I had no idea IE had lost that much market share! I had some real nice comments, many thanks, and I appreciate the folks who actually signed the Public Declaration. I’m hoping at least half of you are real. Just a bit too tired to look into it right now.

Just an FYI, I’m real unavailable for the next 15 hrs or so, so don’t freak out if your comment doesn’t show up because it’s held in moderation. I should be able to get to it in the afternoon or evening. That’s of course assuming the site doesn’t fall over again. We’ll see.

In short, an interesting day, but nothing that changes the fact that there’s a lot of work to be done, and i don’t even know what it is :-/ .

Hey. I’m totally down. But I think you are a complete shit. You say “going galt” but you don’t really mean it. You mean “let’s just water it down like a bunch of babies” when we should really just go balls out and stop doing our jobs altogether. We’ll show them!

  2. Lucas Riedler says

You wanna go “galt”? You wanna make sure that more people lose jobs, homes, more families end up in the street, desperate and hungry. Have you no dignity? Have you no humanity? You know what, you should be tossed on the street and see what poverty is like. FUCK YOU!!!! If you want I will happy to have come over where we can discuss this in person. Piece of shit.

Firefox? interesting… not really, IE is still dominant and will remain until Firefox fixes its horrible memory leak problem. I use it but I simply kill the process every few days and start over from its last session until it bloats out again.

But yes I am one of the curious to see what was on this site after watching The Colbert Report on Hulu.com.

As far as the productive as opposed to being the heads of corporation, this is what I have to see who says what and why.

Thank The Colbert Report you conservative fools. Most of you wealthy assholes got a leg up from your wealthy parents. How many assistants does a dishwasher at San Quentin or your local Denny’s have? Zero. Quit complaining because your taxes are rising slightly enough to notice. This is your come-upens for your greed and feeding off the work of the middle and lower class.

Yes IE has lost a lot of it’s overall dominance, but it depends on the audience. Over at MySpace you’ll get a lot more IE users. Most of your recent visitors (including me) are referrers of Colbert Report, and therefore tend to be more aware of current events and technology and thus made the switch to Firefox. Stephen gave Firefox the Colbert Bump! :P

It’s not a big surprise that you’re clueless about the one of the best browsers on the market. Many conservatives don’t question the microsoft monopoly. IE is unsafe, literally (well, it’s not gonna stab you in the eye, but I generally regard trojans and virus attacks as unsafe, and IE practically has a monopoly there too).

Going galt eh? Gonna give up god as well? I mean, let’s be realistic – how many of your ‘galters’ here are going to endorse Rand’s other views – such as athiesm? Or are you only latching onto the idea that you’re some kind of special person who shouldn’t pay taxes? Yea, you’ll whine about paying more than your share; buck up tho – the vast majority of folks will never feel these tax increases (see: joe the plumber neither being a licensed plumber, nor in any position to own a company / pay taxes in those brackets). Those that do should thank their maker for being a citizen, and happily pony up the bucks (call it payback for the last 8 years of tax cuts & special favors).

GROW UP PEOPLE! THE USA IS NOT FREE! PAY YOUR TAXES BE A GOOD CITIZEN AND DRIVE ON!

Congrats on the Colbert plug, you really should have put some google ads up or something to generate revenue for the brief bump in traffic. As far as Ayn Rand, I read most of her books, and I read Atlas Shrugged twice. I also have a degree in philosophy. I eventually came to disagree with Rand because I believe that humans are communal beings. Not to say that we have no individuality, but we cannot merely forgo our empathy for others. That, among a plethora of other reasons, is why Rand’s ideology is not pragmatic and would never work in the real world, especially the modern one.

I am totally in favor of this idea, but you don’t take it far enough. I think the rich and powerful truly going John Galt, leaving the country and finding a new home, could be the greatest thing that has ever happened to this country. Imagen the job opportunities that would open up if all the old money leeches, power hungry thieves, and lazy CEO’s would just hang up there shoes and quit. True it would hurt for a (long) while, a great deal of capital would be leaving the market, but there would be such a well-spring of ingenuity and energy brought into the market, by the influx of new ideas and new people, that I would have to believe we would eventually solve these problems.

I know this may fall under the “We Don’t Need You” policy, but I hope the comment makes it up. I really do support this idea, I want all of you to leave. I want the chance to remake the future in a way that I see fit, without having to fight over it with people clinging to out-dated models and old-world thought patterns.

Doesn’t the idea of “going Galt” presuppose some degree of excellence in whatever line of work one is in? How is this degree of excellence measured?

I’m pretty sure hating Democrats or taxation is not enough qualification to prove one’s excellence. Instead, it is merely proof of selfishness and/or a glaring lack of historical ignorance.

IE has not lost it’s edge, it just does not work with various things, and as a (sort of) [new] tech, i have, and encourage it as a “backup”. I do a lot of websites, and find that Videos sometimes work in IE OR firefox, but not both. Have you ever tried to get on a password required site and the ” password” part does not appear?…thats IE. anyone needing help is welcome to ask, my website is included with owners permision.

ps I can also help if you have ever had a laptop doing “remote assistance” and had the keybord mess up.

  12. Sean says

sorry, I meant I use and encourage Firefox as a Backup

  13. Sean says

Greg not sure what you SAID,

but sure what you meant.. ( i hope)

    I agree,

    Sean

  14. galtsgulcher says

    Hi Sean,

Can you describe what you think I meant so that I can make it more clear? I’m constantly trying to refine how to express the idea, so it helps to see how you percieve it.

    Thanks,

    Greg

  15. JZ says

Please. I wish the rich would go on strike and disappear. They’re parasites and have looted this country.

  16. matt says

For grins… If you were a farmer and you planted a crop, and the government said you cann’t harvest your crop, would you plant again next year.

  17. galtsgulcher says

    Hi matt,

    ~Everyone~ harvests ~exactly~ what they plant…

    …even if they’re ~not~ farmers! (lol!)

…and that moral law supercedes ~any~ government decree.

    Take Care,

    Greg

  18. BW says

Oh pathetic people … grow up! Rand can get arosed by skyscrapers, are you that serious?

  19. Darren says

Anyone who feels that that hard work is not to be shared to the rest of society has no place is society. And since it is in fact society that provides the legal abilities for people to make money if you really wanted to “Go Galt” you would give all your away away, since it is the creation of this same corrupt society. In addition, I would say that anyone who is selfish enough to agree with Galt in Atlas Shrugged, you do not belong in modern society to begin with. Therefore, I suggest growing up, and taking responsibility for the country that you live in, or giving all your money away and leaving as an appropriate measure of dissent, and someone most likely more capable will take your place.
